FIFA 19: Overview

FIFA 19, developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania and published by Electronic Arts, was released on September 28, 2018, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It's the 26th installment in the popular FIFA series.

Key features and highlights of FIFA 19 include:

  • UEFA Champions League: After not being in the game for years, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Super Cup licenses were acquired, integrating them fully into the game. This included a dedicated Champions League mode, commentary, and branding.

  • Gameplay Changes: Active Touch System, Timed Finishing, 50/50 Battles, and Dynamic Tactics are new gameplay features. These enhance the player's control, shooting accuracy, tackling effectiveness, and in-game tactical adjustments.

  • The Journey: Champions: The third and final installment of The Journey storyline, following Alex Hunter's career, culminating in his quest to win the Champions League.

  • FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT): FUT received updates including Division Rivals (replaced Online Seasons) and new ICONs.

  • Kick-Off Mode: The Kick-Off Mode was revamped with new match types, including House Rules (Survival, Long Range, Headers & Volleys, First to...) and Best Of Series.

  • Commentary Team: Derek Rae and Lee Dixon replaced Martin Tyler and Alan Smith as the main commentary team for all game modes except for the Premier League matches where Tyler and Smith were kept.

  • Nintendo Switch Version: The Nintendo Switch version, while offering similar gameplay to other consoles, lacked The Journey mode. It still included Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Kick-Off Mode.
